Preliminary Results

Citation Maps (CMs)

The WCT EVI MAP project has been developing Citation Maps (CMs) for the references cited in the fifth edition of the World Health Organization (WHO) Classification of Tumours. The aim is to display the evidence cited in the fifth edition categorized by study design using the new Hierarchy of Research Evidence for Tumour Pathology (HETP). These CMs will identify gaps and pockets of low level of evidence (LOE) and help to inform future research and future editions of the WHO Classification of Tumours.

Evidence Gap Maps (EGMs)

As part of the WCT EVI MAP project, a first set of preliminary Evidence Gap Maps (EGMs) has been developed, which are now available here. These EGMs visually synthesize the available evidence, organizing studies by tumour type and study design using the Hierarchy of Research Evidence for Tumour Pathology (HETP). By highlighting areas with limited or low-level evidence alongside more robustly studied topics, these preliminary EGMs aim to identify evidence gaps and inform both future research priorities and updates to forthcoming editions of the WHO Classification of Tumours.
